impact extrudsion
impact extrusion die

Impact Extrusion method is suitable for producing high volume parts of certain designs as it is more economical per unit than Permanent Mold casting method. An aluminum slug is placed in a die, the impact press strikes it at an enormous pressure. The force instantly "melts" the aluminum and it flows into the interior of the die shape.

The advantage of Impact Extrusion method of forming aluminum alloy into your desired design parts are:

  1. The Strength : density from non-porous structure through heat and pressure. Uniform grain alignment from the impacting produces the toughness and strength than other methods of casting. The non-heat-treatable alloys become hardened by impacting.
  2. Very little machining necessary afterward, big saving of time and money at finishing stage compared to other methods, especially sand-casting method, resulting in overall cost saving per unit.
  3. Tight tolerance. Many parts are exactly alike to be readily assembled to become a part of the finished design.

At SOUTHLAND, Impact Extrusion and Permanent Mold casting methods are used for various parts requirement. Our technical advise will make sure the customers will receive the most satisfying results.

SOUTHLAND produces top-of-the-line Internal Railing System components to help build the strongest structural railing system, surpassing the quality provided by the external railing system or welded railings. Internal connections fit precisely into the tubing, resulting in strong structural integrity, smooth transition and aesthetically pleasing handrails system.

With 1 1/2" dia. aluminum tubing of Schedule 40 and 80, the component railing system will meet:

  • -International Building code Design Specifications
  • -OSHA Design Specifications

for Public-Access, Factory-Industrial applications and ADA Compliant handrail system.
